I’m Melissa, a Chicago based virtual bookkeeper who helps Online Entrepreneurs go from side hustle to business by building solid financial foundations.

I worked in the tax preparation industry for years and would often work with clients who were self-employed business owners, or received a 1099 and didn’t know this was considered self-employment. These specific clients were always hit with self-employment tax and huge tax bills because they didn’t know they should set aside money for taxes, keep receipts to track expenses, or didn’t know they were considered a contractor at their “job.”

At this time I was already pursuing a degree in accounting and I knew this was the type of businesses I wanted to help. The ones brave enough to pursue their passion and start a business. The ones who start a side hustle doing something they love or to increase income. Or those like me, who leave the corporate world to start a flexible business from home to spend more time with family. Two college degrees and a few 9 to 5’s later and I am finally living out my dream.
